Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 May 2026
1. Who we are
Proud Man Plan is operated by Peter Windridge-France, a sole trader based at 3 St James Terrace, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 5QT, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").
If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at petewindy@gmail.com.
2. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Proud Man Plan mobile application (the "App") and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read these Terms, that you accept them, and that you agree to be bound by them. If you do not accept these Terms, please do not use the Service.
We may change these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will let you know in the App or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18.
4. What the Service does
Proud Man Plan helps you set a personal goal — a "mission" your 12-year-old self would be proud of — and work towards it one small action ("step") at a time. The central idea is that you write to your 12-year-old self at meaningful moments, as a way to keep what matters in view.
An AI coach (powered by Anthropic's Claude model) is used at four points in the flow:
- during onboarding, to learn what typically gets in the way of you following through
- when you are choosing your mission, to help you pick something specific and meaningful
- when you are choosing each weekly step, to help you make it concrete, realistic, and due within a week
- when you check in on a step — either generating a short letter from your present self to your 12-year-old self if you completed it, or helping you decide whether to redo, shrink, or pause the step if you didn't
A second letter is generated when you mark a whole mission complete, looking back across the journey.
You decide what missions and steps to pursue. The AI coach makes suggestions and writes the letters; you choose what to act on.
5. The AI coach is not professional advice
This is the most important thing in these Terms. Please read it carefully.
The AI coach in Proud Man Plan is a software tool that generates suggestions based on patterns in the data it was trained on. It is not:
- a doctor, therapist, or mental health professional
- a financial adviser
- a legal adviser
- a careers counsellor
- a substitute for human judgement, common sense, or professional advice from a qualified person
The AI coach can produce content that is inaccurate, misleading, biased, outdated, or simply unsuitable for your particular situation. You should treat its suggestions as conversation prompts, not as instructions or recommendations to follow.
Do not use Proud Man Plan to make decisions about your health, mental health, money, legal matters, work, relationships, or anything else that materially affects you or anyone else, without checking with a qualified professional first.
If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, do not rely on this App. Contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (UK, 24/7, free), call 999 (UK emergency services), or go to your nearest A&E.
6. Your account
To use the Service you create an account using a third-party identity provider (currently Clerk). You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for everything that happens under your account.
Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
7. Subscriptions, billing and trials
Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscription prices, billing periods, and any introductory or free-trial offers are shown in the App before you confirm a purchase.
Subscriptions are sold and processed through the Apple App Store (and, in future, the Google Play Store). All payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by Apple under their Standard EULA and your agreement with them. We do not see or store your payment card details.
To cancel a subscription, or to request a refund, you need to do this through your Apple ID account settings. We cannot cancel your subscription or issue refunds on your behalf.
If you cancel, you will continue to have access to paid features until the end of the period you have paid for.
If a free trial is offered, you will be charged the standard subscription price at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then.
We may change subscription prices at renewal. We will tell you about price changes before they take effect, in line with Apple's rules.
8. Content you create
You own anything you write into the App: your missions, your steps, your reflections, your responses to the AI coach. You give us a non-exclusive licence to store and process this content so we can provide the Service to you.
We do not sell your content. We do not use your content to train AI models. Where we share content with third parties (such as Anthropic, who provide the AI model) it is only so they can perform the specific service we have contracted them for, and only as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
When you use the Service, you agree not to:
- use it for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful
- use it to harass, abuse or harm anyone, including yourself
- try to interfere with the security, integrity or normal operation of the Service
- try to access accounts that are not yours
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except as allowed by law
- use the Service to build a competing product
We can suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, or if we reasonably believe you are misusing the Service.
10. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service running well, but we do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption or free from errors. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and, if you have an active paid subscription, a fair refund for any unused portion.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including (at the time of writing):
- Clerk, for sign-in and account management
- Convex, for data storage and backend functions
- Anthropic, for the AI model that powers the coach
- Apple and Google, for distribution and payment processing
- RevenueCat, for managing subscription entitlements
- Expo and its push notification service, for delivering reminders
We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of these third parties beyond our reasonable control. Their use of your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Intellectual property
The Proud Man Plan name, logo, App design and underlying code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use the App for your personal, non-commercial use only.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose.
This does not affect any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential or punitive loss or damage
- we are not liable for any loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities, savings, goodwill, or data
- our total liability to you for any and all claims arising from or relating to the Service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the Service in that period, or (b) £100
You agree that the AI coach's suggestions are not advice and that any decisions you make based on those suggestions are your own. You will not hold us responsible for the outcome of decisions you make.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
16. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time from within the App. If you close your account we will delete your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy. Closing your account does not automatically cancel any active subscription; you need to do that through your Apple ID settings.
We can close your account if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably suspect misuse of the Service, or if we discontinue the Service.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute. If you are a consumer resident outside England and Wales, you may have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
18. General
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will still apply.
If we do not enforce a right under these Terms straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. They replace any earlier agreements or understandings about the same subject.
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours to a third party (for example, if we sell the business).
